Thoits Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow

Thoits Insurance was established in 1891 as one of the Thoits family’s many Palo Alto area enterprises. It served the personal insurance needs of local residents from the Palo Alto - Stanford University area and the commercial insurance needs of their small businesses. In 1975, with revenues of $225,000, the five employees bought out the Thoits family interests. We began our journey into employee ownership.

Thoits Insurance today comprises over 83 employee owners and services over $150,000,000 in client premiums. Our real growth is not measured in dollars, however substantial that may be, but rather in the enthusiastic support of our clients, individuals and businesses with properties and operations throughout the world.

The goal of Thoits has always been, and continues to be, customer satisfaction. Our primary job is to determine risk in all areas of business and protect our clients against these risks. However, the human aspect of client relations is always in the forefront, which explains the tremendous growth that we have achieved.
