Property & Casualty Account Manager
Responsible for maintenance of client and prospect files (both paper and electronic) as well as verbal and written communication with clients, prospective clients, insurance company personnel and co-workers. In addition, the incumbent assists and facilitates the activities of its team members. This is an exempt position.
Job Activities
- Responsible for binding new and renewal insurance.
- Responsible for maintaining expiration lists for the producers who are assigned to this person, to ensure that renewals are ordered or not renewed accordingly.
- Responsible for maintaining a diary (follow-up) system to be sure that policies, endorsements, and other information is received to comply with requests.
- Responsible for certifying current coverages provided when requested by a client.
- Responsible to verify that documents (policies and endorsements), and information requested comply with what was requested.
- Responsible for the creation of client files in accordance with office procedures.
- Responsible for the movement of client files to ex-client files in accordance with office procedures.
- Responsible for the orderly maintenance of client and prospect files.
- Communicates orally and in writing with clients, prospects, insurance company personnel, and co-workers to make requests and answer inquiries. Emphasis placed on establishing and maintaining external contacts.
- Responsible for the invoicing of client policy records.
- Answers billing questions from clients and insurance company personnel with assistance from our Accounting Department when necessary.
- Responsible for authorizing producers' new business commission tags for sales contests.
- Attend Commercial meetings and make sure discussions in those meetings are communicated to team members not in attendance.
- Maintain Accounts Receivable accounts based on company guidelines.
- Keep aware of industry news by reading trade journals, articles, etc. which are circulated throughout the office.
- Attend seminars, classes, etc. when asked to or voluntarily, to keep educated. Make sure continuing professional education hours are maintained to assure license renewal.
- Assist producer in marketing new and existing accounts to companies.
- Responsible for control duties such as surety business, binder log control, etc.
- Performs miscellaneous duties incidental to the above.
Knowledge and Skills Required

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, is important to the position.
- Five years' prior Property and Casualty insurance experience is generally required.
- Two years' Insurance Customer Service experience (dealing with the public) is preferred.
- The incumbent generally is required to develop special skills and knowledge to be the technical "lead" information source of special areas, such as surety bonds, workers' compensation retentions, etc.
- Continuing education in the industry is strongly encouraged.
