Thoits Insurance Consolidates with Battistini & Canfield Insurance Services

Battistini & Canfield Insurance Services, one of Santa Cruz’s oldest, largest, and most respected local businesses, is merging with Thoits Insurance of Mountain View, one of the country's largest 100% employee-owned insurance firms. The combined organization will continue to operate from offices in both Santa Cruz and Mountain View and will be owned by employees of both organizations.
The combined firm, according to Tom O’Rourke and Blaine Brokaw of Battistini & Canfield, will service clients ranging from individual households to major publicly traded corporations.
There are very few opportunities left for such natural mergers of highly professional insurance agencies and brokerages in this era of publicly traded mega-brokerages buying up local and regional firms, noted Thoits’s CEO, Don Way. Clients of both firms will find increased depth and breadth of expertise while retaining the highly personal service they now enjoy, he said. Many of the professionals on both staffs long have been friends and professional colleagues, and so O’Rourke, Brokaw and Way look forward to a very positive joining together of the people who make both firms so special.
