Credit Report
You can obtain copies of your credit reports and credit score from the three main national credit reporting agencies. As of December 1, 2004 (for residents of California and most western states) you are entitled under federal law to receive a FREE credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, Transunion). The web site for making a request under this federal law is www.annualcreditreport.com.
While the reports are free, the credit bureaus are not required by federal law to release your credit score - a credit worthiness rating used by lenders to extend credit and set an individual's interest rate. So don't be surprised if you see an offer (rumored to be between $4 to $7) to add this on to the free credit report.
